Effluent Decontamination Systems
BioSAFE Effluent Decontamination systems are cutting-edge solutions for efficient and environmentally friendly liquid waste management. With advanced engineering and superior reliability, BioSAFE effluent decontamination systems offer a cost-effective way to handle liquid waste generated in various types of facilities.
Effluent Decontamination systems are designed to treat liquid waste generated in agricultural, biopharmaceutical, and research facilities from non-containment up to BSL-3 and BSL-4 classification. Treatable contaminants include:
-Mad cow disease, scrapie, chronic wasting disease
-Foot-and-mouth virus
-Biological warfare agents including anthrax
-Bio-engineered products, recombinant DNA organisms,
and recombinant molecules
-Biological sludge from waste-water treatment plants -Contaminated water from autoclaves and washers
-Aldehyde-containing fixatives and embalming fluids
-Toxins including cytotoxins
-Low-level radioactive, biological waste
All BioSAFE effluent decontamination systems are built to spec for your facility; standard features include: -Closed Loop Processing: protects users from exposure to harmful contaminants Heat Recovery Management System: captures and recycles heat from processed effluent to maintain stable power draw and reduce utility consumption -Thermal (or Chemical) Processing Unit: utilizes heat or chemicals to sterilize liquid so that it can be released to the sanitary sewer -Backup Sparger: provides redundancy during scheduled maintenance
Effluent decontamination facilities can be designed for either continuous flow or batch processing depending on facility volume and can be configured to use either heat or chemicals to decontaminate liquid waste streams depending on the cost and availability of utilities in the facility location.
Design, Installation, and Support
Custom Engineering, Onsite Delivery and Installation
Effluent decontamination systems are built to spec for your facility. We deliver and install or oversee the installation of each system to ensure that everything is ready for use. Our team can also provide ongoing maintenance, training, and support for your system.

FAQs
ind answers to common questions about the EDS, including installation, maintenance, and pre purchase considerations.
Any facility generating red bag, or otherwise regulated biohazardous solid waste will require some type of waste disposal solution. Often, smaller facilities choose to use third-party waste haulers. For larger facilities or for third-party waste processing plants, having an on-site solution offers the most cost-effective solution. We have installed BioSAFE STI systems in:
-Hospitals
-Medical Clinics
-Third-Party Waste Processing Facilities
-Agricultural Research Facilities
-BioPharmaceutical Research Facilities
-Marijuana Operations
And more. If your facility generates more than 350,000 lbs of regulated waste per year, contact us to see how much you could save with a BioSAFE STI.
STIs are available in several levels of waste processing capacity.
150lbs/hr – Perfect for facilities generating less than ~300,000 lbs per year.
300lbs/hr – For facilities processing between 300,000 and 600,000 lbs per year.
600-2000lbs/hr – For facilities processing 600,000 and 4,000,000 lbs per year
3000lbs/hr – For facilities generating more than 4,000,000 lbs per year
Regular maintenance is recommended to ensure optimal performance of the STI product. However, due to the rugged engineering of the STI, the maintenance intervals are 2-3X longer than other similar disposal methods.
Yes, the STI system can be customized to meet specific regulatory and facility requirements. Talk to a BioSAFE representative and let us know what customizations are needed at your facility.
Like all BioSAFE technolgies, our STI systems are designed with elegant simplicity. This results in fewer breakdowns, lower maintenance costs, and a life cycle of up to 20 years.
